Just a trace of snow overnight. Yesterday track packed Independence Park. Radar shows moisture on its way from Seattle. Should have the web cam up by this weekend. Little glitch on the weather station, it’s stuck. Actual temp at 10:20am is 29 degrees. Make plans to take in the Wake Up Ol’ Man Winter Party at the Tamarack Brewery this Saturday December 1. We will be taking photos and processing passes from 6-9pm. Band starts playing at 7.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Posted on: November 22nd, 2012 by Peg

Wishing all a wonderful holiday this Thanksgiving Day. Another 4 inches of snow fell through the day yesterday with temperatures just right for setting up a nice base, packed snow on the upper mountain, getting all ready for the season. Thankful for snow top to bottom and looking at forecast of snow starting Friday evening and continuing through the weekend.

Bands of Snow

Posted on: November 21st, 2012 by Peg

8-10 inches of new snow fell over night! Between 5am and 7am four inches fell and by 8 had tapered off. The forecast is for bands of snow to continue throughout the day at times expecting 3 to 5 inches per hour. No wind at this time but expected to be blustery later in the day.

Up Top

Posted on: November 20th, 2012 by Peg

Two inches of snow over night. Still snowing on top but wet at the bottom. The forecast is for temperatures to begin cooling off tomorrow. Snow forms in clouds, where the temperature is below freezing, but snowflakes can fall even when surface temperatures are in the mid-40s. We are thinking snow and looking for the temps to fall and the snow to stick top to bottom.

It’s that time!

Nov. 11th, outside of the LodgeUPDATE: Couple of inches of new snow overnight as snow continues to accumulate and we prepare for the season. Temps too cold to snow over the weekend made for perfect conditions for the snow gun. Around the lodge and around the top station of the Olympic chair an extra layer of blown snow while mother nature is in charge of the slopes! Can’t wait to see you back on the slopes for our 15th Season 2012-13.

We will be at the Sportsman Ski HAus in Kalispell on Black Friday, taking pictures and processing passes. December 1 see you at the Ol’ Man Winter Party, Tamarack Brewery in Lakeside, processing passes too.

Posted on: November 6th, 2012 by Corinne

Time to put the motorbikes away.

Halloween is over, and with Thanksgiving approaching rapidly, our thoughts turn from black and orange spookiness to nights by the fire with family and paying homage to the snow gods. That’s right Blacktail fans, it is time to break out your snow dance and say a prayer to Old Man Winter. Montana weather forecasters are calling for record-breaking lows and snow by the end of this week, so break out the wax and boards, dust off your dancing boots, and get ready for an epic ski season! Let’s rally for snow! In the month of November you can look forward to a brand-new Blacktail website, the annual Wake up Old Man Winter Party, and lots of updates from the preseason crew regarding weather on the mountaintop.
