CLOSED FOR THE DAY DUE TO ROAD CONDITIONS: Challenging road condition with rain on ice will not be able to open in time so decision made to take the day to work on the road. Groomers reporting in at 5 am with clouds above and snow letting up. There’s 6 inches on the 24 hour stake 2 of that overnight, wind is coming from the south at 8-11 mph and the temperature is 30 degrees. New snow is heavy and groomers are going to be fast and carvable. Forecast is for drying air with snow levels lowering through the day. It is THRIFTY THURSDAY an adult ticket is $25 for a full day.
3/5/14 POWDER WEDNESDAY
9:20 update: Patrol reporting great snow top to bottom, glades filled in and good as new, last 300 feet a little grabby but excellent conditions and snowing. Groomers reporting in this morning at 5 am with 5 inches of snow since closing on Sunday. It is Powder Wednesday with slight wind and temperature at 28 degrees. There are tracks to be made today and the groomers awesome, whatever your preference it is all fresh.

3/2/14 SEUSS SUNDAY FUNDAY
1:00 update: We are at 27 degrees, it is inverted and WARM! Lot of snow out there, 4+ inches on the groomers and cold smoke in the trees. 8:30 update: 10.6 degrees and climbing! Groomers-Zoomers reporting in this Sunday morning at 5 am with 4 inches of new snow on the overnight stake, temps on the up side of 0 (3.2 @ 6:30am)and wind light at the top of the mountain 4mph SE and calm on the slopes. Snow began at the end of the day yesterday and has continued through the groomer’s shift varying in intensity, coming down lightly at 5am. Yesterday temperatures warmed to – 2 degrees with sunshine and at closing temps headed down as far as -11 degrees by 9pm, at that point warming began again climbing up to 0.7 at 5 am. The grinch has let go of the thermometer! We are celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday today, come join the fun.
9:30 update: Temperature slowly climbing, wind light at 4mph. Patrol reporting unlimited visibility and great snow. 6:15 update: Young Fawns & Blacktails postponed today due to cold temperature. Regular lessons will be available. Groomers reporting in this first day of March with minus 17 degrees F temperature with wind blowing 5-10 out of the NE. There’s 5 inches of new snow on the 24 hour stake and snow is falling lightly. Your going to need to dress appropriately to be out there as the cold artic air has moved in. The snow is excellent and feeling like more than 5 inches, may be drifty here and there. The forecast calls for wind to lessen through the day and temperature should warm to minus 6.
2:00 update: Patrol reporting that the terrain park is SHRED READY, they have been working over there all day. Still snowing, slight wind at 2-5 mph but temp has fallen to 2 degrees F. Folks are dressed for it and enjoying great snow. 9:45 update: Patrol reporting wind at 5-10 and temperature of 5 degrees F with visibility of 500 yards. It is snowing big flakes and conditions are excellent. It is just winter up here and everyone enjoying the conditions! No blizzard, NOAA defines blizzard as 35+ mph winds expected to be sustained for 3+ hours with considerable snow falling or blowing reducing visibility. Groomers reporting in this last day of February at 5am with snow falling lightly. At about 3am it started sifting down and has been since, lights of Kalispell still visible and clouds above, accumulation is just a half an inch. We had snow dumping mid afternoon yesterday with temps reaching high twenties. There’s wind from the north at 5 mph and the temperature is 9.5 degrees F. Looking back through the months reports we have only had 2 days with no fresh snow to report! Predicted blizzard conditions have not shown up here. Check weather station and web cam. Often storms driven from the north loose gusto as they come through the valley. The snow is great.
2/27/14 THRIFTY THURSDAY
12:45 update: DUMPING big beautiful flakes, 120 inches and building! Groomers reporting in this morning at 5am with thin whispey clouds above, slight wind from the south west on top of the mountain and calm on the slopes. The temperature is 26 degrees F and has stayed close to that all night. Forecast says there is cold Canadian air poised to move in from the north and meet moist Pacific system coming from the south west equalling snowfall moderate to heavy later in the day. Meanwhile it is Thrifty Thursday and adult tickets are $25 all day. The groomers have been laying out soft carving corduroy for cruising and if you have any legs left after yesterday there’s still deep to be found.
