3/9/14 Spring Forward
9:15 update: Patrol calling conditions soft spring a little more wet on the bottom but good spring like. Wind on the top at 10mph calmer on the slopes. Looks like the bulk of the moisture from this system is south of us, there’s a little moisture spitting out off and on. Groomers reported in at 5am with sleety snow falling off and on, wind gusty from the SE at 15-20 mph, there’s an inch of new snow on the stake. It’s a stormy morning with temperature at 31 degrees and light rain at the bottom of the mountain. This moist subtropical system is forecast to hold through tomorrow, with some prediction of movement more to the south. Remember to move your clocks forward an hour, we have jumped forward into springlike conditions.
9:30 update: Word from Patrol is the skiing is great, fast and one can see all the way to Canada! Sun is shining! Groomers reporting at 5am under partly cloudy sky with no new snow. The temperature is 23 degrees, wind from the south at 3-5 mph. Groomers are laying out corduroy for cruising, there are still some tracks left to be made in the glades. Look for the sun to peak through today and temperatures to warm. Another system with moisture is on track to arrive this evening, it’s going to be spring like today, come up and enjoy.
9:15 update: Patrol reporting the top is excellent and the bottom a bit heavier and sticky on Thunderhead. Crystal great top 2/3rds and bottom firm. Visibility is unlimited with gray layer of clouds above and temp holding at 29 degrees. Corduroy will be good all over. Groomers reporting in this Friday morning at 5am with 5 inches on the 24 hour stake and 1 on the overnight. While reporting there was a squall going through but most of the night pretty mellow, temperature at 26 degrees and wind from the south at 5 mph. Warm temps the last days have resulted in heavier snow that we have been accustomed to, groomers will be soft and carvable and new snow creamy. Drier cooler air in place now little snow in the forecast for the day.
3/6/14 THRIFTY THURSDAY
CLOSED FOR THE DAY DUE TO ROAD CONDITIONS: Challenging road condition with rain on ice will not be able to open in time so decision made to take the day to work on the road. Groomers reporting in at 5 am with clouds above and snow letting up. There’s 6 inches on the 24 hour stake 2 of that overnight, wind is coming from the south at 8-11 mph and the temperature is 30 degrees. New snow is heavy and groomers are going to be fast and carvable. Forecast is for drying air with snow levels lowering through the day. It is THRIFTY THURSDAY an adult ticket is $25 for a full day.
