8:45 AM UPDATE: OPERATIONS SUSPENDED FOR THURSDAY!
With winds continuing to gust at over 40mph, we have made the decision to suspend operations today, Thursday, February 29th, to ensure the safety of our staff and our guests.
The forecast is calling for winds to lighten for Friday. We are scheduled to operate Friday through Sunday, weather and conditions permitting.
If you have made a purchase for lift tickets or rentals today, you should expect to be contacted by our Ticket Office to move the date of your purchase. For ticketing or rental questions, please email skiing@blacktailmountain.com. If you have booked a lesson with Snowsports, you will receive resort credit for your purchase and will be able to reschedule at your convenience. The start of operations will be delayed until 10 am today to ensure the safety of our staff and our guests. Our Mountain Operations Team is continuing to clear lift lines and slopes while they monitor winds.
6:45 AM UPDATE: POTENTIAL DELAYED START
Winds seem to be calming here on the mountain, there will likely be a delayed start to operations today as we clear lift lines and the slopes.
Good morning Snow Riders,
It is currently 28 degrees with winds at 15-20 miles per hour and gusting with visibility at 200 yards. Groomers are reporting 2 inches of new snow and a settled base of 34 inches. We will be sliding today on powder, packed powder and machine groomed runs with all lifts in operation. We’re hoping the wind will die down here this morning and will post an update when we get closer to operational hours. It’s Thrifty Thursday today, ski all day for just $35 when you purchase your lift tickets ONLINE.

Operations Details
- All lifts open at 9 am with Crystal closing at 3 pm; Olympic and Thunderhead lifts close at 4 pm daily. The Magic Carpet opens at 9 am and runs as needed until 4 pm.
- Ticket prices today are are $55 for Adults (25-69), Young Adults (18-24), and Teens (13-17), $45 for Children (8-12), Seniors (70+)
- Tiny Tots (7 & under) and 5th Grade season passes are just $10
- Save $10 when you purchase online and in advance.
- Muley’s Bar & Grill is open from 10:30 am until 5 pm, Mighty Bites Cafeteria is open from 8 am until 3 pm.
- The rental shop will be open from 8 am-4 pm.
- The Blacktail Trading Co. retail shop and Blacktail Bean will be open from 8 am-5 pm.
- Snowsports Lessons will be available on a limited basis. There are a select number of products available for online bookings, for all other lessons, please check in at the Ticket Office at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled lesson times.
